Rihanna Purchased Todd Goldman's Paintings as Birthday Present for Herself

Engaged in a cupcake fight during her early birthday bash held at Los Angeles' Les Deux nightclub on Tuesday night, February 19, Rihanna apparently has an early birthday present for herself. The R&B singer, who turned 20 on February 20, has reportedly bought herself seven paintings by pop cartoonist Todd Goldman.

One of the seven paintings that Rihanna bought was the so-called "Fat Kids Are Harder To Kidnap". The songbird and several of her friends were photographed in front of it at the Grove's Jack Gallery in Los Angeles on Saturday night, February 16.

The other pieces of artwork by Todd that Rihanna bought including "Goodbye Kitty in a Microwave," "Gold Digger Like a Hooker Just Smarter," "My Mom Says Not to Run Scissors," "Barbie is a Slut," "A Salt with a Deadly Weapon," and "Smurf Blue Balls."

"Half of the paintings are going to her house in L.A. and half to her apartment in NYC," JustJared quoted an unnamed source as saying.

In other Rihanna news, she reportedly is set to be honored with a national holiday in her home country of Barbados, with the Caribbean island will declare Thursday, February 21 "Rihanna Day." Baby, Please Don't Go

"Baby, Please Don't Go" is a song by Big Joe Williams originally released in 1935. It has been covered by many blues and rock artists, including AC/DC, Aerosmith, Amboy Dukes, Budgie, Zakk Wylde's Pride & Glory, Paul Butterfield, The Doors, Bob Dylan, Lightnin' Hopkins, Al Kooper, John Mellencamp, Van Morrison, Ted Nugent, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Paul Revere & the Raiders, Taste, Them, Muddy Waters, and Bill Wyman.

This song explains why a man begs his wife (perhaps his girlfriend) to come back, and what the man does for loneliless if his wife/girlfriend leaves him.

Gayle Dubowski a quiet girl who made her mark through music

Sweet and quiet is how friends and former instructors at Glenbard North High School remember Gayle Dubowski.

But put her in a choir robe and on some risers, that's where she found her voice.

The 2006 graduate of Glenbard North was a mainstay of several choral programs throughout her four years in high school, even scoring a coveted spot her senior year as a member of the school's Gold Tones singing group.

"Here was this sweet, quiet girl with the voice of an angel," said Robin Craig, Dubowski's guidance counselor. "She graced this Earth with a beautiful voice and a serving heart."

The 20-year-old was one of five victims shot and killed by a gunman at Northern Illinois University in an Ocean Sciences class Thursday. Craig believed Dubowski was probably studying to be a teacher, but wasn't certain because she wasn't at school to look up her former pupil's records.

"I came home from work to cry and lie down for a bit, and try to make sense out of the shootings," she said. "That's impossible."

Dubowski was a year ahead of Brandy Leckner, but they had gone to school together since Leckner was a kindergartner. She also performed in choir with Dubowski.

"She was a very good singer," Leckner said. "She would talk with us and try to get us younger singers to open up when we sang."

Funeral arrangements are pending.

The Stars Are Back: Grammys Bring Back Good Music in Style

Monday morning already – where has the weekend gone to, by the way? Well, Mondays have a way of just... creeping up on you like that, as I'm sure you must have noticed yourselves. And since it's this particular Monday, it's all about the Grammys. And yes, it was a wonderful night, with an impressive number of stars coming out to play and relishing the spotlight and the chance to show off their glamor factor. Everybody who was somebody was at the Grammys last night, and made full use of the chance to look fabulous and
pose for the cameras on the red carpet, after such a (so far) dry award season brought about by the soon-to-be-history writers' strike.

We'll be dealing with the music part in this post, and we'll leave the fashion part for a different article – we need to give stars all the attention they can get, right? Well, as far as music was concerned, it was definitely Amy Winehouse's night. The British jazz diva took home five awards: record and song of the year for her autobiographical hit track "Rehab", best pop vocal album for "Back to Black", best new artist, and best female pop vocal. That's quite an impressive run for the brilliant British singer, whose tormented private life has made her better known for being a recovering drug addict than a proper singer lately. But Amy showed her critics that she is well on her way to... yes, rehab (I know, I've pretty much heard every joke ever made about that), and that she can really sing (when she's not stoned, that is). Check out the video of her performance last night – it took place in London and was transmitted via satellite to the States.

In other Grammy news, Kanye West actually won an award! I'm kidding. The rapper won an impressive four Grammys - best rap album of the year (for "Graduation"), best rap solo performance (for "Stronger"), best rap song (for "Good Life") and best rap performance by a duo or group. You can find the complete list of winners below. All in all, it was a truly spectacular night, also featuring wonderful performances by Carrie Underwood, Rihanna, and a spectacular duo with Beyonce and Tina Turner. Enjoy a series of clips below, and stay tuned for more Grammy news!
